We are acutely aware of the unique obstacles posed by overdose loss, including the common emotions of shame, stigma, and isolation. Complex feelings such as blame, guilt and regret often isolate those grieving from an overdose loss. For many, the litany of unanswered questions they have about the circumstances that lead to the fatal overdose further complicate the grieving process. This can make a sense of closure even more difficult to attain. For others, the relationship status at the time of death—especially if the death occurred during a period of non-contact—causes additional guilt. Our support groups consider all of the challenging complexities specific to overdose loss and are sensitive to all of the aforementioned nuances that exacerbate the process of coping and grieving.

Addicted to Life 319 hosts a support group on the last Thursday of the month from 7:00 pm-8:30 pm. We encourage anyone looking for a supportive and understanding community to RSVP.
